Volunteer Teaching

This program involves teaching English in institutions ranging from child development centres to secondary schools. It aims to improve students' English and give volunteers an opportunity to learn about the Thai education system. Volunteers teach for 2-3 hours, have lunch at the school, and leave after the morning. You can then hit the beach! It's a real chance to make a difference in rural Thailand and develop friendships within the school community. For the full schedule, please scroll down to the Program details section.

Program Description

This program consists of working with students in various schools teaching English. We have strong relationships with several child development centres, kindergartens, and primary and secondary schools and the age of the students may be anywhere between 2 and 18. Many of the schools are open to new concepts and approaches to teaching. This means that you may be able to share your new ideas and teaching strategies that might complement the local Thai teaching methods or style.

Our teaching program serves a dual purpose: of course, it is meant to help children in rural Thailand to have a chance to speak more English (usually even their teachers are not fluent speakers). Secondly, it will give you an insight into the Thai education system and a good chance to develop friendships with students and teachers.

  • You will leave the centre between 08:30 and 09:30 depending on the school. Expect to teach for 2-3 hours. Lunch will usually be served at the school and you will leave school each day after the morning session.
  • The school shows respect to the King of Thailand through a ceremony daily and you might be asked to take part in this unique morning ritual.
  • Please take note of the long holidays (mid-March till mid-May and October) and public holidays. During such times you can join special classes and English camps regularly requested by the local community. In the event that the need at this time is at the local child development centre, please keep in mind that you will be working with young children who will require a much different approach than primary or secondary school. Please use your creative skills through song, dance, games, and repetition to help young children to learn and enjoy their introduction to basic educational concepts.

Aims & Objectives

  • For this particular program, the aims and objectives fall under the jurisdiction of the Thai government. In recent years, the government has placed a continued emphasis on the teaching of the English language. Despite this, English literacy rates in Thailand remain one of the lowest in Asia.
  • Our aim is to continue to improve the children's prospects by teaching them English. On the other hand, you will also gain teaching experience, an invaluable life skill!

Clean & comfortable Accommodation

You'll be provided with clean and comfortable accommodation. Since there will be many people staying at the centre and participating in various programs, you'll have an excellent opportunity to meet and socialize with many new people from around the world.

Add Cultural Week

If this is your first time in Thailand, we recommend joining the cultural week before your volunteer program. It's a great way to get to know your fellow volunteers and immerse yourself in Thai culture through various cultural activities and sightseeing in the morning and free time in the afternoons to enjoy the gorgeous beach surroundings fully.
